‘Seven and a Half’ wins award at Persian Int’l Film Festival

Iran feature film ‘Seven and a Half’ has been awarded at the Persian International Film Festival in Australia.

Iran-Afghan co-production directed and written by Navid Mahmoudi succeeded to grab Best Film Award at the 8th edition of the Persian Filmfest.  

The 75-min film narrates the story of seven Iranian and Afghan girls in seven episodes. The girls are to marry on Friday night, but all of them are engaged in some challenges.

Latest screening of ‘Seven and a Half’ has been at the Busan International Film Festival 2019 in South Korea.

Some of the cast members of the film include Neda Jebreili, Hasti Mahdavi, Anahita Afshar, Fereshteh Hosseini, Sheyda Khaligh, Afsaneh Kamali and Rojan Taghizadeh.

Persian International Film Festival showcases the best of Iranian cinema and the Persian speaking world in Australia.

Founded in 2011, the festival screens films by Persian-speaking filmmakers of Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan, and through screenings, master classes and cultural events.

According to the official website of the event, the festival also aims to “be a leader in shifting views and misconceptions in Australia by creating spaces for new and alternative voices of Persian-Australians and by being a forum for dialogue between and amongst diverse communities.”

The 2019 edition was held on December 4-8, 2019.
